RE: Finally Cut My Mortgage Payment - Anyone Else Score a Great Refi Deal Lately?
Those random fees drive me nuts too. When I refinanced last year, I actually made a spreadsheet just to keep track of all the little charges they tried to sneak in. There was a “document prep” fee and then a “doc handlin...
RE: Finally Cut My Mortgage Payment - Anyone Else Score a Great Refi Deal Lately?
That hits home. I used to be all about minimizing interest, but after my car’s transmission died the same week my kid needed stitches, I’m way more cautious now. Having a cash buffer saved me from putting thousands on a ...
RE: Nobody Talks About FHA Loans for Disabled Persons - Until Now
It’s wild how deep they dig, right? When I went through the FHA process, they wanted a letter about a $150 deposit from selling an old bike. I get the need for transparency, but sometimes it feels like they’re just fishi...
RE: Choosing Between National and Local Debt Service Coverage Ratio Options
I’ve run into that same wall with local lenders, especially when I was looking at a multifamily deal a couple years back. The property was just over $8M, and even then, my local contact got a little cagey about their cap...
RE: How Mortgage Loans for Seniors Work at Every Age
Totally get what you mean about the paperwork. When my mom tried to downsize last year, we thought her steady pension and Social Security would make things simple. Nope. The lender wanted not just the award letters, but ...
RE: Choosing Between National and Local Debt Service Coverage Ratio Options
Man, I feel this so much. I once spent weeks chasing a “sure thing” with a local credit union, only to get blindsided by some last-minute paperwork hurdle. Your checklist is spot on - especially about backup options. It’...
RE: Does a VA loan require an inspection? What are the VA loan inspection requirements for buyers and spouses?
I get where you're coming from on the frustration - some of those calls do feel random, and I’ve definitely seen deals get held up over stuff that seems nitpicky. But honestly, I’m kind of glad the VA has those Minimum P...
RE: Getting Results When Your Loan Servicer Drops the Ball
I get the appeal of faxing for that confirmation slip, but honestly, I’m always nervous about sending sensitive info through a machine I barely trust. I’ve had faxes go missing too, which is just as frustrating. Lately, ...
RE: Imagining a landlord juggling DSCR loans and rent chaos
I get the whole “marketing magic” thing, but I’ve been burned by that optimism before. I remember one duplex I looked at - listing said “rents could be $1,500 per side with a few upgrades.” Sure, the photos looked great ...
RE: How to Buy a Home with Loan and Secure Your Dream Home
I get what you’re saying, but honestly, I’m not sure I’d call it “doable” for everyone. I tried to keep my accounts squeaky clean during underwriting - no random transfers, no side hustle deposits, nothing. Still got fla...
RE: Can H1-B Visa Holders Still Get a Mortgage After Trump’s Crackdown?
Couldn’t agree more. I tried going the “easy” online route and ended up buried in requests for pay stubs, visa copies, letters from HR… you name it. The process isn’t impossible, but it’s definitely not as simple as the ...
RE: Boosting My Credit a Bit Before I Refinance - Worth the Wait?
I’ve been in that exact spot, trying to time things just right. Last year, I held off on refinancing because I was convinced I could nudge my score up another 10 points. Ended up waiting about six weeks, but in that time...
RE: Boosting My Credit a Bit Before I Refinance - Worth the Wait?
I had a similar experience when refinancing a couple years back. Everything looked good on paper, but the underwriter got hung up on a single late payment from years ago - like ancient history, practically. Took forever ...
RE: Thinking about refinancing my VA mortgage, curious what others are doing
I hear you on those sneaky fees. When I refinanced mine last year, I thought I'd done all my homework - spreadsheets, calculators, the whole nine yards. But sure enough, at closing, there was this random "processing fee"...
