Yeah, the paperwork grind is unreal. I swear, every time I thought I’d sent the last bank statement, they’d pop up with some new “requirement”—like, “Can you explain that $200 Venmo from last spring?” It’s like they’re just making sure you’re paying attention. I get why they’re thorough, but sometimes it feels like a test to see how much patience you’ve got left. I’ve seen people get tripped up by the weirdest stuff, too—one guy I know had to explain a birthday check from his grandma. It’s wild.

It’s wild how deep they dig, right? When I went through the FHA process, they wanted a letter about a $150 deposit from selling an old bike. I get the need for transparency, but sometimes it feels like they’re just fishing for red flags that aren’t even there. I started keeping a little folder for every random deposit, just in case. Makes you second-guess every Venmo you accept.

That’s the part that gets me. I once had to explain a $90 transfer from my cousin for splitting a pizza order. It’s like, are they expecting us to live in a vacuum? I get why they’re strict, but sometimes it feels like overkill. Still, I’d rather deal with the paperwork than risk a denial over something silly.

- Yeah, the level of scrutiny on every deposit can get ridiculous.
- I’ve had underwriters ask about a $40 Zelle from my brother—turns out he was just paying me back for movie tickets.
- It’s frustrating, but I get it… a lot of fraud out there.
- My advice: keep a quick note or screenshot handy for anything that’s not a regular paycheck. Makes the paper trail way smoother.
- At the end of the day, it’s just easier to over-document than risk a delay or denial.

I swear, the first time I went through an FHA loan process, I felt like I was auditioning for a reality show called “Every Dollar You’ve Ever Touched.” They flagged a $25 Venmo from my cousin—turns out it was for pizza after we moved a couch. I get why they’re so strict, but man, it’s wild what counts as “suspicious activity.” At this point, I just keep a folder on my phone labeled “Random Money Stuff” with screenshots and notes. It’s overkill, but it beats having to explain why my grandma sent me $50 for my birthday... again.
