Yeah, those random little fees are sneaky. When I was going through my refi, I actually questioned a couple of the charges—one was a “courier fee” that just seemed made up. I pushed back a bit and they dropped it, but not all of them budged. I think it depends on who you’re dealing with and how much they want your business. It’s definitely worth asking, even if it feels awkward. Sometimes just showing you’re paying attention makes them rethink what they’re charging.

Totally agree—those fees add up fast if you’re not careful. I actually went line by line on my closing docs and called out a “processing fee” that made zero sense. They knocked it off, but yeah, some stuff they just won’t budge on. It’s annoying, but worth the hassle.

- Totally with you on scrutinizing every line—some of those fees are just invented out of nowhere.
- I’ve had lenders try to slide in “document prep” or “courier” charges for $100+...for what, emailing a PDF?
- You’re right, though, they won’t budge on everything. Title insurance was non-negotiable for me, which still feels like a racket.
- At the end of the day, it’s your money. Asking questions is always worth it, even if it gets awkward.
- Glad you got that processing fee knocked off. Every little bit counts when you’re trying to keep costs down.

Right? I swear, the last time I refinanced, I asked the guy if the courier was delivering my docs on a golden chariot. He didn’t laugh. But hey, shaving off even $20 here and there adds up—especially when you’re already counting pennies for takeout night. Title insurance still baffles me too. Feels like paying for an umbrella in the desert, but apparently it’s “required.”

Those “courier” fees drive me nuts too. Half the time, it’s just someone clicking send on an email. I always tell clients to question every line item—sometimes they’ll knock off a few bucks just because you asked. As for title insurance, yeah, it feels pointless until you hear about that one nightmare scenario where it actually saved someone’s skin. Most folks never need it, but when you do...well, you’re glad it’s there. Still, congrats on trimming your payment—that’s a win these days.
