Okay, so I was staring at my credit card statements last night and legit felt my stomach drop. Got me wondering how everyone else deals with it. Quick poll time:

When debt starts piling up, do you usually...

A) Focus on paying off smallest balances first (snowball method)
B) Tackle highest interest rates first (avalanche method)
C) Try consolidating debts into one payment
D) Just wing it and hope for the best, lol 😅

Personally, I've tried A and B, but honestly, sometimes I just end up at D, you know? Curious how you guys manage.

Honestly, I've bounced between A and B myself, but lately I've leaned toward the avalanche methodβ€”mostly because seeing those interest charges pile up was driving me nuts. Consolidation always sounds tempting, but I've heard mixed results from friends who've tried it. Curious if anyone here has actually had consolidation work out well for them... or is it just another "too good to be true" scenario?

I've also found the avalanche method effective, especially psychologicallyβ€”it's motivating to see the high-interest balances shrink faster. Consolidation can work, but only if you're disciplined about not racking up new debt afterward... otherwise, it's just a temporary band-aid.

Avalanche definitely has its merits, especially if you're someone who gets motivated by seeing those high-interest balances drop. But I've seen consolidation backfire more times than I'd likeβ€”people get comfortable with the lower monthly payments and end up spending again. Curious though, has anyone here tried pairing debt repayment strategies with budgeting apps or spending trackers? I've found that visualizing spending habits can sometimes be a real eye-opener...

Avalanche has worked best for me personally, especially combined with budgeting apps. Tracking my spending visually made it clearer where I was leaking money and helped me stay disciplined enough to actually see balances decrease steadily.
