Why aren't schools teaching us how to handle debt?

"It's surprising how little practical financial education we get, considering how critical these decisions are later on."

Yeah, it's pretty baffling when you think about it. But I wonder—would schools even do a good job teaching this stuff if they tried? I mean, half the teachers I've met seem just as confused about mortgages and credit scores as anyone else. Maybe it's not just about adding finance classes, but finding people who genuinely understand and can explain this stuff clearly... Easier said than done, probably.

Fair point, but honestly, teachers don't necessarily need to be financial experts themselves. Schools could easily bring in guest speakers—financial advisors, bankers, or mortgage brokers—to cover these topics. I've done a few sessions myself at local high schools, and students genuinely appreciate hearing practical insights from someone actually working in finance. It doesn't have to be complicated; sometimes a real-world perspective is enough to make things click.
