Funny you mention that—I was pretty transparent with my lender about checking other offers, and honestly, it seemed to keep them on their toes. They knew I wasn't bluffing, and suddenly those mysterious fees and vague terms started clearing up. I'd say transparency cuts both ways; if you're open about comparing rates, lenders tend to respond in kind. Just my two cents... or maybe two basis points, ha.
