RE: Has anyone actually used rhs loans or down payment assistance to buy a home?
Couldn’t agree more about the “free money” not always being so free. When I refinanced, I found out my down payment assistance had a silent second mortgage attached - surprise! Took three phone calls and a minor existent...
RE: Escrow accounts - better through banks or independent services?
Been there - last year, my escrow payment got stuck in limbo because the bank’s “system” was down for maintenance. Meanwhile, my property taxes didn’t care about their lunch break. Here’s how I handle it now: 1) Ask who ...
RE: Why It Matters for Commercial Loans Texas
That’s exactly it. I swear, my lender wanted proof I could survive a zombie apocalypse before approving my refinance. Honestly, all those “just in case” requirements mostly made things slower and pricier for me - didn’t ...

Honestly, I get the urge to double-check every tiny thing, but sometimes I think we can stress ourselves out trying to be perfect. When I refinanced last year, I had a small parking ticket that never showed up anywhere -...
RE: Did you know housing counselors can help with credit issues too?
Title: Spreadsheet Headaches and Credit Surprises I totally get the spreadsheet fatigue. I swear, half my life is spent color-coding cells and the other half is me squinting at my phone, trying to figure out why my bala...
RE: Home equity loans and taxes - did you know this?
I learned the hard way that “tax deductible” doesn’t always mean what you think it means. I refinanced with a HELOC last year to fix up my kitchen, so I figured I was golden on the deduction front. But then my accountant...
