That’s a fair point—having that buffer can be a lifesaver when things go sideways. But I’ve seen folks get stuck with higher payments later because they didn’t lock in a better rate when they could. Sometimes, even with a bit of risk, the long-term savings from refinancing outweigh the short-term comfort. Have you run the numbers on how much extra you’d actually pay over the life of the loan if you stick with the lower payment? Sometimes it’s more than people expect...
