"4) Panic when lender asks for random doc you never knew existed"

Haha, this step hits way too close to home. Reminds me of the time my lender asked for a "statement of explanation" about a random credit inquiry from years ago that I barely remembered...had me questioning my entire financial life choices. Hang in there, though—once you finally close, the relief is worth every bizarre request they throw your way.

Haha, reading this brings back memories. When we refinanced a few years ago, the lender suddenly asked for a "letter of explanation" about a small deposit from my grandma for my birthday. Seriously? It was like $50 from three years earlier, and I had to awkwardly write a formal letter explaining that my grandma just really likes sending birthday checks. Felt like I was confessing to some shady financial scheme or something...

"had me questioning my entire financial life choices."

Exactly this. I remember sitting there thinking, "Wait, is getting birthday money from grandma suspicious now?" 😂 Honestly, the whole mortgage process feels like a weird scavenger hunt sometimes—just when you think you've got everything covered, they toss in another random request. But yeah, once you're finally done and have those keys in hand, all the bizarre hoops they made you jump through fade pretty quickly. Hang in there!

Haha, totally relate to this. When we refinanced, they flagged a random $30 Venmo payment from a friend for pizza night. Had to formally explain our Friday night pizza habits...

"Honestly, the whole mortgage process feels like a weird scavenger hunt sometimes"

Exactly—just gotta laugh it off and keep going.

Haha, I've seen some pretty wild things flagged during mortgage applications—your pizza night explanation might actually top my list. Had one client whose monthly yoga membership caused a bit of a stir...had to clarify it wasn't some mysterious recurring debt.

That's spot on. Curious, has anyone else had something totally ordinary flagged as suspicious during refinancing or transferring their mortgage?

Haha, yoga memberships and pizza nights... who knew everyday life could look so suspicious on paper? Reminds me of a client I had whose monthly payments to a local pet grooming place raised eyebrows. Took us a good while to convince the underwriter that "Paws & Relax" wasn't some shady front for hidden debts.

"Honestly, the whole mortgage process feels like a weird scavenger hunt sometimes"

Couldn't agree more. It's funny how something as innocent as pet grooming or yoga can suddenly trigger alarm bells. Makes me wonder—has anyone had trouble explaining something even more mundane, like streaming subscriptions or regular coffee shop visits? Seems like anything recurring is fair game for suspicion these days...
