I'm in the middle of sorting out moving my mortgage over since we're buying a new place soon (finally!). Anyway, I've been chatting with my bank directly, and they're making it sound pretty straightforward, offering some decent rates too. But my brother-in-law swears by using a mortgage broker insteadβ€”says they can usually snag better deals and handle the paperwork headache for you. Honestly, the paperwork stuff is already giving me mild anxiety, haha.

I've never used a broker before, always just dealt directly with the bank. Kinda torn right now...bank seems simpler maybe, but broker sounds tempting if it means less hassle and possibly saving some cash. I'm curious if anyone's done both before or has strong feelings one way or another? Is a broker really worth it, or should I just stick with the bank route since it's familiar territory?
