Last week, I got this random box in the mail from some mortgage company I've never even heard of. At first, I thought it was junk mail or some weird scam thing, but turns out my original lender transferred my loan to this new servicer without really giving me much heads-up. Anyway, inside the box was like a little welcome kit—had some pens, a fridge magnet with their customer service number (lol), and even one of those squishy stress ball things shaped like a house.

I mean, it's kinda cute, I guess? But also feels sorta weird getting promotional swag from someone who's basically just gonna be collecting my money every month. Maybe they're trying to soften the blow or something...idk.

Curious if anyone else has gotten something similar when their mortgage changed hands. Did you get anything good or just a bunch of random stuff you'll never use?

Haha, I refinanced last year and got a similar box—mine had a cheesy keychain flashlight and a notepad I'll probably never use. Do people actually get excited about these things, or is it just me being cynical?

Haha, you're not alone. I've seen plenty of these welcome boxes over the years—one time I got a branded stress ball that split open after two squeezes. Guess it's the thought that counts... or something.

Haha, that's pretty typical from what I've seen. Honestly, I rarely even open those boxes anymore—usually just some pens, a notepad, maybe a fridge magnet if they're feeling extra generous. The branded coffee mugs are decent though; I've got a cabinet full of them at this point. Makes me wonder how much these companies spend on swag versus actual customer service improvements. Has anybody ever gotten something genuinely useful or impressive, or is it always just marketing clutter?

Got one of those welcome boxes once, too. Pretty standard stuff:
- Pens dried out within a week.
- Stress ball shaped like a house—dog shredded it immediately.
- Magnet still on fridge, but never actually called the number.

Honestly, I'd trade all the swag for a mortgage company that doesn't mess up escrow calculations every year. Priorities, right?
