Yeah, the paperwork can be a real maze. I’ve had buyers swear they’ve given me every doc under the sun, then an underwriter pops up with, “What about this random checking account from three years ago?” It’s wild how one missing detail can stall the whole thing. I get why they’re thorough, but man, it does feel like hunting for buried treasure sometimes... Wouldn’t mind if they made it a bit less of a headache, especially for folks dealing with extra visa hurdles.

It’s honestly wild how deep the underwriters dig, especially when there’s a visa involved. I had a client last year—H1-B, solid job, everything lined up—and we still spent weeks chasing down old pay stubs and random bank statements. At one point, they wanted a letter from his previous landlord overseas, which was just... not happening. I get that the rules are there for a reason, but sometimes it feels like the process isn’t built for people with more complex backgrounds.

I do think the extra scrutiny on visa holders has gotten tougher lately, especially with all the policy changes and uncertainty. It’s stressful for borrowers who are already jumping through hoops just to stay compliant. I wish there was a more streamlined way for folks with work visas to prove their stability without having to dig up every financial artifact from the past decade. The system could use a little more flexibility, honestly.

I totally get what you mean about the process not being built for people with more complex backgrounds. When we bought our place, my partner was on a work visa too, and I remember the underwriter asking for a letter from his old university... in a country where the admin office barely answers emails. Felt like a wild goose chase. I wonder if some of this extra scrutiny is just lenders covering themselves in case policies change again? Have you noticed if banks are actually denying more loans, or is it just more paperwork and stress?

Yeah, I’ve seen a lot more hoops to jump through lately, but not necessarily more outright denials—at least not yet. It’s like lenders are just hedging their bets, making sure every “i” is dotted. Sometimes it feels like they’re inventing new paperwork just to slow things down. The stress is real, though.

Totally get what you mean about the paperwork parade. Last time I applied, I swear they wanted a copy of my third-grade report card. My tip: keep a digital folder with every doc you can think of—saves a ton of headaches when they ask for something random. The stress is real, but at least we’re all in the same boat... or maybe it’s a paperwork canoe.
