Just found out from a neighbor that if you think your home's assessed value is too high, you can actually appeal it. He did it last year, filled out some paperwork, showed some comparable homes in the area, and ended up knocking a good chunk off what he owed. I had no idea this was even a thing, but apparently it's pretty common. Thinking about trying it myself next time around... anyone else done this or got other clever tricks to keep the bill down?

I haven't appealed yet, but I did find out about homestead exemptions recentlyβ€”basically reduces your home's taxable value if it's your primary residence. Easy paperwork, saved me a decent bit this year. Worth checking into.
