Honestly, I’ve never seen a loyalty discount that actually made a difference. Every year my “loyalty” just seems to mean I pay more for the same thing. I used to think sticking with one company would pay off, but after a few years of watching my premium creep up for no reason, I started shopping around every renewal. It’s a hassle, but I’ve saved a decent chunk just by switching.

About the deductible thing—I lean toward the higher deductible and just keep a little extra in my emergency fund. The lower monthly payment adds up, and I figure I’m not making claims all the time anyway. The fine print is a pain, though... I swear they make it as confusing as possible so you just give up and pay whatever. But yeah, loyalty discounts? Pretty overrated in my experience.

I get where you’re coming from, but I’ve actually had a different experience with loyalty discounts—at least once. My insurer knocked a chunk off my premium after five years, though I had to call and ask (and threaten to leave). It’s like they hide the good stuff until you make some noise. Still, I agree, most of the time it feels like “loyalty” just means you’re paying for inertia. The fine print is a nightmare... I swear they write it in hieroglyphics just to keep us guessing.
