Stuck in underwriting limbo - did you know this?
The repeated document requests can be part of that communication problem, not necessarily a sign that the lender thinks your credit is weak. Automated underwriting can flag ordinary activity, especially large deposits, transfers between accounts, cash deposits, or income that varies month to month.
It helps to keep statements and a short paper trail for anything unusual: where a deposit came from, whether a transfer was between your own accounts, and whether funds were a gift, loan, bonus, or sale proceeds. Avoiding unnecessary account movement while the loan is under review can help too. The lender may still ask for documentation, but having it ready can keep a routine transaction from turning into another underwriting loop.
