Had a lender “lose” my paperwork three times—fax finally did the trick (and yeah, I’m still stunned that’s what worked). Honestly, I don’t buy the “call you back” line anymore. If I’m not checking in every couple days, nothing moves. Learned to screenshot everything too... had to prove a payment once when their system glitched. It’s a circus sometimes, but you’ve gotta be on top of it or stuff slips through the cracks.

Faxing is wild, right? I had to do that last year—felt like I was time traveling. I’ve had docs “lost” too, and it’s always on me to chase them down. Honestly, I don’t trust their online portals much either. Screenshots, email receipts, the whole nine yards... It’s annoying, but if you don’t keep a paper trail, they’ll just shrug and say it’s your problem.

Faxing feels like sending smoke signals at this point, but yeah, I still do it sometimes just to cover my bases. Here’s my routine: I send the docs, then immediately call to confirm they got them (because “lost in the ether” is real). If I use a portal, I screenshot every step—upload confirmation, timestamp, you name it. It’s a pain, but after one too many “we never received that” calls, I’m not taking chances. Honestly, I wish these companies would just get their act together... but until then, it’s all about that backup evidence.

Honestly, I get the urge to cover every base, but I’ve found faxing is just not worth the hassle anymore—especially if you’re watching your budget. Fax machines eat up paper, toner, and phone line costs, and half the time the quality’s so bad you’re just asking for a “we can’t read this” call. I switched to certified mail for anything really important. It’s a couple bucks, but you get a tracking number and proof of delivery that’s hard for them to argue with. For portals, yeah, screenshots are smart, but I also save the confirmation emails as PDFs.

I know it’s tempting to double up on everything, but honestly, these companies should be responsible for their own systems. If they lose something after you’ve got proof, that’s on them—and I’m not shy about escalating if they try to blame me. Just feels like we shouldn’t have to jump through hoops or spend extra money just because their tech is stuck in the 90s...

Faxing is a relic, for sure. I tried to keep one around “just in case” but honestly, it was more trouble than it was worth. Certified mail is my go-to too, especially when I need proof that can’t be shrugged off. It’s a small price for peace of mind—plus, you don’t get that weird panic when the fax doesn’t go through and you’re left wondering if your docs are floating in some tech void.

I’m all about saving a buck, so here’s my quick-and-dirty routine: 1) Always use the portal if they have one, but screenshot every step (including the “submitted” screen). 2) Save every confirmation email as a PDF, like you said. 3) If it’s really important or time-sensitive, certified mail. Costs a bit, but way less than dealing with a lost doc disaster.

And yeah, if they mess up after all that, I don’t hesitate to escalate. I’m not paying extra because they’re stuck in dial-up mode. If only these companies would join us in the 21st century...
