"Felt painful at the time, but honestly, ditching PMI was one of the best financial moves I've made."

Interesting perspective, and I'm glad it worked out for you. But I wonder if it's always the best move financially. When I refinanced, I ran some numbers and realized that the funds I'd use to hit that 20% could potentially earn more elsewhere—like investing or paying down higher-interest debt. Did anyone else weigh those opportunity costs before jumping through hoops to drop PMI? Curious if the math always adds up...

Definitely see your point, but honestly, ditching PMI isn't just about the straight-up math. Yeah, you might squeeze out a bit more investing elsewhere, but there's something to be said for the psychological win of lowering your monthly mortgage payment. I've had clients who swear getting rid of PMI felt like finally shaking off an annoying roommate who never chipped in for groceries... sometimes peace of mind trumps a few extra bucks in returns.

Good points overall, but a couple things to think about:
- PMI isn't always that huge monthly burden—mine was pretty minor, honestly.
- Sometimes investing that extra cash can build a nice cushion faster...which might actually give you more peace of mind than ditching PMI early.
Just another angle to consider.

Fair enough, but honestly, for me, knocking out PMI early was more about the psychological boost than the math. Even if it's not a huge monthly hit, seeing it disappear from my statement was oddly satisfying—like clearing out clutter from the garage. Sure, investing might technically net you more in the long run, but there's something to be said for simplifying your monthly expenses and feeling like you're truly chipping away at your debt. Just my two cents...

Totally get that psychological boost you're talking about. For me, it was similar:

- PMI wasn't a huge chunk each month, but seeing it vanish felt like a mini victory.
- On paper, sure, investing could've made more sense, but emotionally it felt like I was finally owning more of my home.
- Plus, simplifying my monthly budget just made life feel less cluttered overall.

Exactly this...sometimes peace of mind beats the math.
