Curious if anyone’s actually had luck negotiating legal fees down or getting a payment plan? I’ve heard some attorneys will work with you if you’re upfront about your situation, but I’ve never tried it myself. Also, has anyone used those online legal services for foreclosure stuff? Wondering if they’re worth it or just add more confusion to the mix...

I’ve actually managed to get a payment plan with a lawyer before, but you really have to be upfront and not wait until the last minute. Some will even shave off a bit if you’re paying cash or can show hardship, but it’s hit or miss. As for those online legal services, I tried one for a different issue (not foreclosure) and honestly, it felt like I was just getting generic advice. Maybe it’s better than nothing, but I’d be careful if your home’s on the line. Has anyone here tried negotiating directly with the lender instead of going straight to legal help? Sometimes they’ll work with you if you show you’re trying to avoid foreclosure...

Negotiating directly with the lender can actually work, especially if you’re proactive and have a clear plan to show them. I’ve seen folks get loan modifications or forbearance agreements that way, but it really depends on the lender’s policies and how far along you are in the process. Did you find the lender was open to options, or did they just stick to their script? Sometimes it feels like you’re talking to a wall...
