Just stumbled across this news article about a couple who got totally scammed by their real estate agent. Apparently, the agent was secretly working both sides of the deal and ended up costing them thousands extra. Yikes. Made me realize how little I actually know about choosing someone reliable when buying or selling a home.
I mean, I've always just gone with whoever my friends or family recommended, but now I'm thinking maybe that's not enough? Like, how do you even check if an agent is legit or has your best interests at heart? Reviews online can be sketchy too—half of them seem fake anyway.
Curious if anyone else saw this story or had similar experiences. How do you guys usually vet your realtors before trusting them with something as huge as buying or selling property?
