What mattered most when picking your real estate agent?

I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on buying my first home (finally!), and I've been chatting with a few different agents. They're all nice enough, but it's tough deciding, you know? I mean, is it more about how responsive they are, their local knowledge, or just someone you feel like you can trust? Thought I'd put up a quick poll to see what others prioritized most when choosing their agent:

- Communication/responsiveness
- Local market knowledge
- Trustworthiness/personality fit
- Recommendations/reviews from others

Feel free to share why you picked what you did - I'm kinda stuck here.

I went with trustworthiness/personality fit because honestly, you're gonna be spending a LOT of time talking to this person. Communication is def important, but it doesn't matter how responsive they are if you dread calling them, right? Local knowledge helps too, but any decent agent knows the basics. For me, it came down to feeling comfortable asking dumb questions (and trust me, I had plenty...) without feeling judged or rushed. Good luck with the hunt!

I get your point about personality fit - definitely makes sense - but I'd argue local knowledge isn't just basics. Had an agent once who knew neighborhood zoning plans inside-out...saved me from a costly mistake down the road. Sometimes details matter more than comfort level.
