The small fees sting, but missing something like an expiring rate lock or a sneaky prepayment penalty can cost way more in the long run.
That said, I do wonder if lenders intentionally make these disclosures so dense that most people just give up reading. It’s not exactly transparent. Maybe it’s not a conspiracy, but it sure feels like they benefit from our confusion. Still, I’d rather spend my energy negotiating the big stuff than arguing over $30 for “overnight delivery” of documents that arrive by email anyway...
