I’ve seen clients get stuck in the same loop—sometimes it’s just a backlog, but other times, pushing for a supervisor can actually break the logjam. It’s not always luck, though. If your loan officer isn’t responsive or seems overwhelmed, switching can make a difference. I’ve had borrowers tell me their files moved faster after changing contacts. Just keep track of your communication and don’t be afraid to ask for someone else if you’re not getting answers.

I’ve definitely wondered if switching contacts actually helps, or if it just feels that way because you’re finally getting some attention. Like you said,

“pushing for a supervisor can actually break the logjam.”
Personally, I kept a running log of every email and call, just in case things went sideways. Did anyone here ever have a new loan officer who actually sped things up, or did it just shuffle the same paperwork around? I’m skeptical it always makes a real difference…

I get where you’re coming from. When I was going through my first mortgage, I ended up getting bounced to a new loan officer halfway through. At first, I thought it’d just be more of the same—more waiting, more repeating myself, more “we’re just missing one document” emails. But weirdly enough, the new guy actually did move things along. He seemed way more on top of stuff, and I started getting updates without having to chase them down.

That said, I’ve also had the opposite happen with a car loan—new contact, same old runaround. I think sometimes it’s just luck of the draw who you get. Keeping a log like you did is smart, though. It helped me keep my sanity when things dragged out. Hang in there... it really does feel endless, but eventually, they do get it done.

Man, waiting on these loan folks is like watching paint dry... if the paint also kept asking for your pay stubs every two days. I’ve done the mortgage shuffle twice now, and both times it felt like I was stuck in some kind of paperwork Groundhog Day. One time, I even tried to get ahead of the game—sent them every document I could think of, labeled and color-coded (I know, I know, overkill). Still got the “just one more thing” email. Every. Single. Week.

Here’s my personal survival guide:
1. Keep a folder (digital or old-school) with every doc they ask for, plus the ones you think they might ask for next.
2. Make a spreadsheet of who you talked to and when—bonus points if you add a column for how many times you had to repeat your address.
3. If you get a new contact, just assume you’ll have to re-explain everything. It’s like a rite of passage at this point.

The good news? Eventually, they do run out of things to ask for. Or maybe they just get tired of me bugging them... Either way, hang in there.

Man, I feel this so much. Last time I refinanced, I swear I had to resend my W-2s three times because they “couldn’t find them.” At one point, I started wondering if they were just testing my patience. Your spreadsheet idea is genius—wish I’d thought of that. It’s weird how every step feels like a pop quiz you didn’t study for... but yeah, eventually it does end. Hang in there, you’re not alone in the paperwork maze.
