Never hurts to be the squeaky wheel... just don’t be afraid to squeak a little louder if you need to.
That’s pretty much been my experience, too. Had a refi a couple years back where things just stalled for no clear reason—radio silence for weeks. I finally sent a quick “just checking in” email, and suddenly I had three people on the case. It’s weird how a tiny nudge can break the logjam. Wouldn’t say it’s “normal,” but it sure seems common… not sure which is worse.
Funny how that works, right? I’ve seen clients get stuck in the same limbo—one polite follow-up and suddenly everyone remembers your file exists. It’s not ideal, but I guess a little persistence is just part of the game. Still, you’d think there’d be a better system by now...
Honestly, I get where you're coming from, but sometimes a quick follow-up doesn’t move the needle at all. Lenders get bogged down, and even a nudge can land on deaf ears if there’s a backlog. Seen it drag on for weeks, even with persistent clients. It’s frustrating, but not always fixable with just persistence.

I get that, but is it always just about the backlog? I’ve read that sometimes files get stuck because of missing paperwork or small errors, and a follow-up actually helps catch those. Has anyone tried escalating to a supervisor or switching loan officers? Wondering if that makes any real difference, or if it’s just luck of the draw with timing.

Honestly, I’ve seen both sides. Sometimes a quick call to a supervisor speeds things up—especially if your file’s been sitting for weeks. Other times, you’re right, it really is just paperwork limbo. Swapping loan officers did help me once when mine went AWOL mid-process. It’s not always luck... sometimes it just takes being persistent and talking to the right person at the right time.
