Using Home Equity for Debt Consolidation

Been thinking about consolidating some debt using my home's equity, and I found one of those online calculators to figure out if it's worth it. Basically, you plug in your current debts, interest rates, and home equity details, and it spits out if you'd save money or not. Pretty straightforward, but um...wondering if anyone here has done this before and maybe has a better method or some tips I haven't thought of yet?
