Was chatting with my cousin yesterday, and he mentioned something kinda interesting about USDA loans. Apparently, a lot of folks think these loans are just for super rural, middle-of-nowhere placesβbut turns out that's not always the case. He said there are actually some suburban areas and smaller towns that still qualify, even if they're pretty close to bigger cities. Like, you might be surprised to find out your own neighborhood or the next town over could actually be considered "rural" enough for one of these loans.
I always assumed USDA loans were strictly for farms or places with more cows than people, you know? But nope. He showed me this map online, and I was honestly surprised at some of the areas highlighted. Some were just outside city limits or in places I'd never think of as rural at all. Makes me wonder how they decide what's rural enough and what's not... seems kinda random sometimes.
Anyway, thought it was pretty cool and figured some of you might find it interesting too. Maybe someone here has used one of these loans or knows more about how they pick these areas? I'm curious if anyone else has stumbled across surprising spots that qualified or maybe even got turned down somewhere you'd swear was rural enough.
