Haha, dial-up nightmares are no joke. Had a client once who moved into this gorgeous farmhouse—views for days—but then realized Netflix was basically off the table unless they wanted to buffer for eternity. They ended up going old-school with DVDs again, which was kinda charming actually. Curious though, did you guys check out internet options beforehand or just wing it and hope for the best?

Haha, DVDs making a comeback—who would've thought? Honestly, internet speed is one of those sneaky things people overlook when they're caught up in the excitement of a new place. I've seen it happen a lot with rural properties. Gorgeous views, tons of land, but then reality hits when you realize your Zoom calls look like pixelated abstract art.

I'm curious though, did your client ever look into satellite internet or something like Starlink? I've heard mixed reviews—some folks swear by it, others say it's still pretty spotty. Been thinking about investing in some rural properties myself, but reliable internet is definitely on my checklist. Wondering if anyone here has firsthand experience with satellite options and if they're actually worth the hype or just another headache waiting to happen...

I've been researching Starlink quite a bit myself lately—seems promising but definitely not flawless yet. Heard weather can really mess with the signal sometimes. Anyone know if heavy rain or snow seriously impacts performance?

Yeah, you're not wrong there. My buddy has Starlink out in the sticks, and every time there's heavy rain or snow, he jokes it's "buffering weather." 😂 But honestly, it's usually just a short hiccup—not a dealbreaker. Considering the alternative is snail-paced rural internet, I'd say it's still a huge upgrade. Congrats on finding your dream home though... rural perks definitely outweigh a few buffering moments!

Yeah, Starlink's pretty decent overall, but I'd still recommend having a backup plan if your work depends heavily on internet reliability. Had a client who moved out rural and loved everything about it... until a storm knocked out their connection during an important Zoom meeting. Awkward moment, lol. But like you said, compared to dial-up speeds or spotty DSL, it's still miles ahead. Congrats on the new place—sounds like the buffering is worth it for that dream home!
