"Satellite was our only option at first, and honestly, it wasn't terrible... until I had an important work call."

Haha, this brought back memories. Had a similar situation when we bought our rural place—thought we'd covered everything but totally overlooked internet reliability. Have you checked into local co-ops or community broadband initiatives? Sometimes they're hidden gems if fixed wireless isn't around yet. Saved me from awkward pauses on calls more than once... might be worth investigating in your area.

Had a similar issue here, satellite was okay-ish until heavy rain hit or I needed to upload big files... then forget it. Local co-ops sound good in theory, but from what I've seen, they can be hit or miss depending on who's running things. Did you find your community broadband reliable from day one, or was there an adjustment period? I'm skeptical but open to hearing more experiences before diving in.

Definitely an adjustment period here. When we switched from satellite to our local co-op broadband, the first couple weeks were a bit rocky—random slowdowns, some outages, and customer service was still figuring things out. But after about a month, things smoothed out nicely. Now it's pretty solid, even during storms. I'd say if you're patient enough to ride out the initial bumps, it can be worth it...but yeah, depends heavily on who's managing it.

We had a similar experience when we moved out here. The first few weeks had me worried we'd made a mistake—random buffering, dropped Zoom calls...not ideal when working remotely. Thankfully, things settled down after a couple of weeks, but yeah, patience is key.

Glad to hear it improved for you! We're moving into our first home next month, and I'm already bracing myself for similar hiccups. Did you end up switching providers or upgrading your equipment, or did it just sort itself out naturally? Trying to figure out if we should plan ahead or just wait and see how it goes...
