My experience getting monthly income from home equity

Had the same issue refinancing a rental property last year. Big banks just couldn't wrap their heads around my project-based income. Local credit union got it done in a week, no fuss. Sometimes smaller really is better...

Had a similar situation myself, but actually found the opposite. My local credit union was super cautious about my freelance income - they wanted so much extra paperwork and explanations. Ended up going with an online lender instead, which surprised me. It was pretty streamlined, decent rates, and no long waits. Guess it really depends on your specific credit union or even the loan officer you get...

Interesting you had a smooth experience online - I keep hearing mixed things about online lenders. As a first-time buyer, I'm a bit wary of going fully digital for something as big as a home loan. Did you feel comfortable without having someone local to talk to face-to-face? Maybe I'm just old-school, but I kinda like the idea of being able to walk into an office if something goes sideways...

I totally get your hesitation about going fully digital - I felt the same way at first. But honestly, after reading so many positive experiences like this one:

"It was pretty streamlined, decent rates, and no long waits."

I'm starting to feel more confident about it. Maybe it's just about finding the right lender online? Still, I agree there's something reassuring about having a local office to visit if things get tricky...guess we'll see how brave I feel when it's my turn, haha.

I see your point, but I'd still be cautious. A few things I'd consider before diving fully digital:

- Check reviews carefully - not just the glowing ones, but the negative ones too. Sometimes those reveal hidden issues.
- Confirm there's solid customer support available. If things go sideways, you don't wanna be stuck on hold forever.
- Maybe test the waters with a smaller transaction first? Less stress if something goes wrong.

Digital can be great, but it's smart to keep your guard up...just in case.
