Did the rebates really make that big of a dent though? I've been crunching numbers and it feels like a drop in the bucket compared to what I'd actually spend. But yeah, avoiding awkward thermostat police duty sounds tempting...

I hear you on rebates feeling minor at first glance, but when I refinanced and upgraded my HVAC, those little savings added up over time. Honestly, the real win was ditching the constant thermostat battles with my teenagers...worth every penny.

Did upgrading your HVAC really solve the thermostat wars, though? I replaced mine last year, and my kids still mess with it constantly...maybe it's less about equipment and more about teenage stubbornness? Curious if anyone else noticed this.

Upgrading our HVAC didn't help eitherβ€”my teens still mess with the thermostat daily. I swear, it's like their life's mission to keep the house either freezing or tropical. Honestly think you're onto something with teenage stubbornness. Maybe it's more about setting boundaries (or bribery?) than fancy equipment. Although, programmable thermostats with lockout features have crossed my mind...but would that just escalate things? Hang in there, at least we're all in this together.

Haha, I feel your pain. I've seen clients invest in top-of-the-line HVAC systems only to have their teens wage thermostat wars anyway. Honestly, programmable thermostats with lockouts might just turn into a challenge for themβ€”like cracking a safe in a heist movie. Maybe subtle bribery (pizza night?) or strategic negotiations could be more effective. At least until they head off to college and you regain full thermostat sovereignty... Hang tight, you're definitely not alone in this struggle.
