Yeah, lenders can be stubborn—especially with smaller loans. It’s frustrating when you realize all that haggling barely moves the needle. But hey, even a small rate drop adds up over time. Did you check if there were any lender credits or fee waivers? Sometimes those make more difference than the rate itself.

I hear you on the lender credits—sometimes those little perks end up saving more than a quarter-point rate drop. I’ve had deals where the closing costs were the real battleground, not the rate itself. Out of curiosity, did you try shopping around with any credit unions or local banks? I’ve found they can be surprisingly flexible, especially if you mention you’re considering boosting your credit first. Ever had any luck with that route, or do you stick to the big guys?

Credit unions are my go-to, honestly. The big banks always feel like they’re reading from a script, but the local places actually listened when I said I was working on my credit. One time, just mentioning I’d paid off a card got me a better deal. Not always a home run, but worth a shot.

I hear you on the credit unions—they do seem more flexible. I’ve had mixed luck, though. Sometimes they’ll work with you, but other times the underwriting rules are just as strict as the big banks. When you mentioned paying off a card, did your score jump right away or was there a lag? I’m always nervous about timing things before a refi... seems like scores can be slow to update.

I’ve noticed the timing can be all over the place. Sometimes my score updates within a week after paying off a card, but other times it drags out for almost a month. Depends on when the lender reports, I guess. Have you ever tried doing a rapid rescore through your lender before a refi? Curious if that’s actually worth it or just another hoop to jump through.
