I hear you on the tech headaches. When I did my last refi, the portal locked me out twice and I had to reset my password each time—felt like a mini obstacle course. Still, I’d take that over tracking down a notary or waiting for snail mail. Curious if anyone’s actually had a lender lose their paperwork in the mail? I’ve always wondered if that’s just an urban legend or if it really happens.

I’ve actually had a lender lose docs in the mail once—years ago, before everything went digital. It was a pain, but thankfully nothing sensitive got out. These days, I’ll take a glitchy portal over mailing anything important. Still, I wonder if all these digital platforms are really that much safer, or just a different set of headaches. Anyone else feel like the tech is just shifting the problems around?

Honestly, I still get nervous every time I upload a stack of docs to a portal—half the time I’m just hoping it doesn’t freeze or eat my files. At least with paper, you could physically see what you were sending (even if it did get lost in the mail). Now, it’s like, is my info safer in the cloud, or just floating around for hackers to find? Has anyone actually had a digital mishap that was worse than the old-school mail fiascos?

I hear you—there’s something about watching that little upload bar crawl across the screen that just feels risky. I’ve had a portal time out mid-upload and lost everything, which was a pain. But honestly, I’ve also had paper docs go “missing” in someone’s office for weeks. Both ways have their headaches... just different flavors of stress, I guess.

Totally get that. I swear, I’ve spent more time chasing down “lost” paperwork than actually reading it. At least with the online stuff, I can double-check what I sent. Still, that upload bar gives me anxiety every time—like, is it gonna freeze at 99% again?
