Just went through the whole home equity loan process and realized halfway through I was missing some key docs...ugh. Quick tip: gather your recent mortgage statements, proof of income, and home appraisal stuff beforehand. Anyone got other tips or things I might've missed?
Good tips, especially the appraisal docsβthose can be a pain to track down. A couple other things I'd add from my refi experience:
- Double-check your homeowner's insurance policy details. They asked me for proof of coverage midway through.
- Have your property tax statements handy. I overlooked this and had to scramble last minute.
- Also, if you've done any recent home improvements, receipts or permits might help boost your appraisal.
Did they hit you with any unexpected fees or closing costs? That's always my biggest headache...
