Great point about job stability—it's easy to overlook how lenders interpret these things. If anyone finds themselves in a similar spot, here's what I'd suggest: first, pause and talk to your loan officer before making any big moves. Second, if you do switch jobs, be prepared to quickly gather updated documents like pay stubs or an offer letter. Lastly, keep communication open...lenders appreciate transparency, and it can save you a ton of headaches down the road. Curious if anyone else has seen other seemingly minor changes cause issues?

Definitely. I had a friend who ran into trouble because she closed an old credit card account right before finalizing her mortgage. Seemed harmless enough—she thought fewer open accounts would look better—but it actually dinged her credit score just enough to complicate things. Who knew something so small could matter? Makes me wonder what other sneaky little details lenders pay attention to...

I've seen similar situations, but honestly, closing one old credit card usually doesn't cause a huge drop unless it was your oldest account or had a high limit. More often, it's bigger moves like financing new furniture or appliances right before closing that really trip people up...

Yeah, learned that lesson the hard way myself. Thought I'd be proactive and snagged a sweet deal on a new fridge right before closing... lender was NOT amused. Almost cost me the house. Moral: hold off on big purchases till you have those keys in hand.

Yep, seen this happen more times than you'd think. Lenders get jumpy when your credit shifts mid-process... better safe than sorry and just wait it out.
