Mortgage rules just got tighter—didn't see that coming

I get the point about streamlining, but wouldn't making verification too quick or automated risk missing important red flags? As someone new to this whole mortgage thing, I'm wondering if there's a reason lenders dig so deep into transactions—like maybe they've caught issues that seemed minor at first glance? I mean, sure, birthday cash from grandma sounds harmless...but could easing up too much unintentionally open doors for misuse or oversight?

Fair points, but honestly, lenders already have tons of automated checks running behind the scenes. Streamlining doesn't mean ditching due diligence altogether—just cutting back on unnecessary hoops. Sometimes digging too deep creates more confusion than clarity...balance is key here.

Couldn't agree more with this. I've had clients who've nearly lost their minds over tiny details lenders suddenly decided to obsess about—like that one time a client's $50 birthday check from grandma triggered a full-blown investigation into "unexplained deposits." 😂 Automated checks are great, but there's definitely room to ease up on some of the nitpicking. Like you said, it's all about finding that sweet spot between caution and common sense.

I get your point, but honestly, I'd rather lenders err on the side of caution—even if it means a bit more hassle. Sure, the $50 grandma check thing sounds ridiculous, but small details can sometimes hint at bigger issues. When I was applying, I actually appreciated the thoroughness; it gave me confidence that they're careful with everyone's finances. Maybe the sweet spot is slightly closer to caution than convenience...

- Totally get where you're coming from—when I applied, the extra checks made me feel safer too.
- But honestly, some of the hoops felt a bit excessive...like explaining a random Venmo payment from months ago. 😅
- Maybe there's room to streamline certain parts without losing that carefulness?
- Curious, did anyone else find specific parts of the verification process particularly frustrating or helpful?
