Honestly, I get where you’re coming from, but I’ve seen some folks get tripped up even with all their docs in order. Like,

“If you’ve got your docs in order, you’re already ahead of the game.”
—sometimes that’s true, but sometimes it’s just luck of the draw with which underwriter you get. I’ve had clients with perfect paperwork still get stuck for weeks over the tiniest visa detail. It’s not always about being organized, unfortunately. The inconsistency is what drives people nuts.

I totally get the frustration. It’s wild how much depends on which underwriter you get, or even what mood they’re in that day. I’ve seen people with squeaky clean records and all the right paperwork get sidelined for weeks, while someone else breezes through with barely a question. It’s like playing the lottery, honestly.

That said, I do think being organized at least gives you a fighting chance. If you’re missing stuff, you’re definitely sunk, but even with everything lined up, you’re right—it’s no guarantee. The inconsistency is what really gets me, especially when you’re trying to plan a big financial move. I’ve started double-checking every single document and even asking for extra letters from employers, just in case. Still, you can’t control everything, and that’s the part that makes me nervous about jumping in right now. Maybe things will settle down, but for now, I’m keeping my options open... just in case.

Honestly, you nailed it with the “lottery” comparison. I’ve seen files that look like they were assembled by a NASA engineer still get flagged for the weirdest reasons. The wild card is always the underwriter, and yeah, their mood seems to matter way more than anyone wants to admit. One time, a client got held up for three weeks over a missing paystub—turned out it was just stuck to the back of another page. Organization helps, but there’s always some curveball. I wish I could say there’s a secret trick, but sometimes it’s just about patience... and maybe a little luck.

Yeah, the underwriter’s mood is a total wildcard—sometimes it feels like they’re just looking for something to nitpick. I’ve had files come back for the tiniest things, like a missing initial on page 47. Organization helps, but you’re right, sometimes it’s just about rolling with the punches and hoping today’s the lucky day.

I get where you’re coming from, but I’d argue it’s not always just luck or the underwriter’s mood. There’s a method to the madness, even if it doesn’t feel like it. Lenders are under a lot of scrutiny these days, especially with non-citizen borrowers. I’ve seen files get flagged for tiny things, but usually there’s a compliance reason behind it—even if it seems nitpicky. Staying organized definitely helps, but sometimes pushing back and asking for clarification can actually make a difference. It’s not always about rolling with the punches... sometimes you can nudge things in your favor if you know what to ask.
