Totally agree on the smaller financial tasks being a big relief. For me, it was:

- Setting up a separate savings account specifically for home repairs (less panic when something breaks).
- Double-checking insurance coverage to make sure I'm not overpaying.
- Regularly reviewing subscriptions—it's crazy how many little charges sneak in.

Physical projects always seem tempting, but honestly, getting the financial basics sorted first feels safer...especially with mortgage rates locked in now.

Good points on the financial stuff, but honestly, I found tackling a few small physical projects right away helped me feel settled. Nothing huge—just changing locks, sealing drafty windows, and swapping out old smoke detectors. It gave me peace of mind knowing the basics were covered. But yeah, totally with you on subscriptions...I canceled three streaming services I forgot I even had. Oops.

Yeah, totally agree on knocking out those small projects early. When I moved into my place, the first thing I did was replace the locks too—no idea who had keys before me, and honestly, I'd rather not find out the hard way. Also tackled some minor plumbing stuff right away because dripping faucets drive me nuts.

Funny you mention subscriptions...I recently discovered I'd been paying for a music streaming service I hadn't used in over a year. Felt like finding money in an old jacket pocket when I canceled that one. Anyway, congrats on locking in your mortgage rate at the right time—timing really is everything with these things.

Good call on the plumbing—dripping faucets are sneaky money wasters. I usually recommend folks also check their insulation early on. It's not glamorous, but proper attic insulation can save you a surprising amount on heating and cooling bills. Curious though, did you find any other hidden costs or surprises after moving in? Seems like there's always something unexpected lurking behind the scenes...

Definitely agree about insulation—it's one of those overlooked things that pays off quietly in the background. Another sneaky cost I encountered was outdated electrical wiring. The inspection didn't flag it as urgent, but after moving in, I realized the outlets couldn't handle modern appliances safely. Ended up being pricier than anticipated to upgrade everything to code... I'd recommend budgeting a bit extra for electrical checks, especially in older homes. Better safe than sorry when it comes to hidden fire risks or insurance complications down the line.
