I was chatting with my brother-in-law the other day—he's been through the whole home-buying circus twice already—and he mentioned something kinda interesting. Apparently, getting pre-approved for a mortgage isn't just about your credit score and income. Banks also look at your employment history pretty closely, and switching jobs—even if it's for a better salary—can sometimes throw a wrench in things if it happens too close to when you're applying.

Like, you'd think getting a higher-paying job would only help, right? But he said his lender asked for extra documentation and explanations because he'd switched jobs less than six months before applying. It wasn't a dealbreaker, but it slowed things down a bit. I had no idea that timing mattered so much.

Made me wonder what other unexpected stuff people have run into when they're trying to get their mortgage sorted. Anyone else got surprising stories or weird trivia about the whole pre-approval thing?
