Honestly, I get where you’re coming from, but I’ve actually had a different experience with my lender. They were pretty on top of sending notices—almost annoyingly so. I think it really depends on the company. Still, you’re right that the process is way more complicated than it needs to be. I’ve had to resend proof of insurance a couple times because their system “lost” it... super frustrating. But I wouldn’t say it’s always shady—sometimes it’s just plain incompetence or outdated systems. Keeping your own records is smart, though. Saved me a headache more than once.
