Why does getting a bigger mortgage have to be so complicated?

Yeah, I totally get where you’re coming from. I’m in the middle of my first mortgage process and it’s honestly wild how much they pick apart every little thing. I had to explain a $50 Venmo from a friend—like, really? But I guess the upside is, like you said, sometimes you get lucky with a lender who just “gets it” and doesn’t make a big deal out of minor stuff. It’s stressful, but you’re right, those inconsistencies can actually help sometimes. Just wish there was a bit more common sense in the mix.

- Honestly, I kind of see why they dig into every little transaction.
- Lenders are on the hook if something goes wrong, so I get the paranoia, even if it feels over the top.
- Personally, I’d rather they be super thorough than let stuff slide and then regret it later.
- I know it’s a pain, but those “lucky” moments with chill lenders make me nervous—like, what if they miss something important?
- Maybe it’s just my risk-averse brain, but I’d rather jump through a few extra hoops now than deal with surprises down the line.
