Just had an inspector come through this old house we're eyeing, and man, I dunno if it's normal or what, but the list of issues was endless. Foundation cracks, sketchy wiring from the stone age, plumbing that's seen better days...you name it. Feels like buying a charming old house means signing up for a lifetime of repairs. Curious if y'all had similar experiences or if we just picked a lemon here?

Been there, done that, got the dusty toolbox to prove it. When we bought our "charming fixer-upper," the inspector handed us a report thicker than a novel—foundation issues, ancient knob-and-tube wiring, plumbing that groaned louder than my knees after yardwork...the works. Honestly though, despite the endless weekends spent at hardware stores, there's something oddly satisfying about bringing an old house back to life. Just brace yourself for surprises—there's always another hidden gem waiting behind those walls.
