Finding decent rates on borrowing against home equity

I recently checked out a few different lenders to see what kind of rates I could get for borrowing against my home's equity. Honestly, the differences were kinda surprising. One lender quoted me a rate that seemed way too good to be true, and another was just...ridiculously high. Felt like shopping for a used car, you know? Curious if anyone else has had this experience or if maybe I just got unlucky with who I talked to.
