what the heck is escrow anyway?
Discussion options
I was chatting with my cousin yesterday, and he casually mentioned using an escrow account when buying his house. Had to pretend I knew what he meant, lol. Turns out it's like a neutral third-party holding money until both sides fulfill their deal. Kinda interesting, anyone got more details or experiences with this?

Escrow's definitely useful, but honestly, it's not always as neutral as it sounds. I've seen deals get delayed because escrow companies can be overly cautious or slow with paperwork. Still beats risking your money directly though...
Yeah, escrow can be a bit of a double-edged sword...it's meant to protect everyone involved, but sometimes the caution does slow things down. Still, better safe than sorry, right? Have you noticed certain companies handle it smoother than others?
