I totally get the online dating comparison—my first time picking an escrow agent felt like swiping through profiles, except with way more paperwork and less chance of a free dinner. I went with a bank just because I figured, worst case, there’s a branch I can walk into and make awkward eye contact with someone until they help me. Independent agents sound great in theory, but after hearing stories like yours, I’m not sure my blood pressure could handle the suspense. Maybe boring is underrated when it comes to this stuff.
