I’ve heard some servicers drag their feet on that part, even after reversing fees.

Yeah, that’s not just a rumor—credit corrections can be a real slog. I’ve had clients who got their late fees reversed, but the servicer “forgot” to update the credit bureaus. It’s more common than you’d think. Sometimes you have to send a dispute directly to the credit bureaus with all your backup. Anyone else notice that the process seems to move faster when you submit everything in writing? Phone calls just don’t cut it for this stuff.

Honestly, I’ve seen it go both ways. Written disputes are solid, but sometimes when I’ve had a stubborn servicer, calling and asking to speak with a supervisor actually got things moving faster—especially if you keep notes on who you talked to and when. It’s a pain, but a combo of calls and follow-up emails seems to cover your bases. I wouldn’t rely on just one method, since these companies can be unpredictable.

That’s been my experience too, though I lean more on written records. Phone calls help in a pinch, but if you ever need proof down the line, emails and letters are gold. Had a servicer “forget” a phone promise once—never again.

Funny, I’ve had the opposite—once I got a rep on the phone who actually fixed my issue right away, but when I emailed later for confirmation, they acted like it never happened. Is it just me, or do these companies have selective amnesia? I keep a folder of screenshots now, just in case. Anyone else screenshot everything, or is that overkill?

I totally get you on the “selective amnesia” thing—feels like every time I call, it’s a different reality than what’s in their emails. I don’t think screenshotting is overkill at all. I started doing it after a bank “lost” my payment history once. It saved me a ton of hassle when I could just send them a screenshot of our chat. It’s wild that we have to do this, but honestly, it’s the only way I feel covered these days.
