Getting rid of old collections - delete or archive?

I've got a bunch of old collections cluttering up my account, and I'm kinda torn between just deleting them outright or archiving them somewhere out of sight. Deleting feels cleaner, you know, like a fresh start... but then again, archiving means I won't regret losing something later. Curious what most people here prefer and why - do you usually delete stuff permanently or just stash it away?
