I see where you're coming from, but honestly, I've seen plenty of handshake deals go sideways—even between really close friends. A few years back, two of my good buddies had a casual loan arrangement. They trusted each other completely, but when repayment dragged on longer than expected, things got awkward fast. Having something simple written down doesn't have to be overly formal or complicated, just a quick text or email like "Hey, just confirming the $500 loan, payback by June?" can save a lot of headaches later.

Yeah, handshake deals can work...until they don't. I had a similar experience once—super casual loan between friends, seemed totally fine until repayment got delayed. A quick text confirmation would've saved us some awkward pizza nights, lol. Better safe than sorry, imo.

Exactly. I've done a few friend-to-friend loans myself, and here's what I've learned:
- Always put something in writing—even a casual text or email works.
- Clearly state repayment terms (amount, date, etc.).
- Keep it simple but clear; no need for lawyer-level detail, just enough to avoid misunderstandings.

Handshake deals are great until someone forgets or circumstances change. Better to have a quick awkward convo upfront than months of weirdness later...

I get your point, but honestly even casual texts can get misunderstood later on. Had a friend insist I meant one thing when I clearly didn't... sometimes it's worth a little awkwardness to draft something slightly more formal.

Totally agree with this. Even if borrowing from a friend feels casual and easy, money has a funny way of complicating things later. A simple written agreement can save friendships—seen it happen too many times...
